Drupal may be free software, but it still has costs. Of course, we all know that companies still need to pay for support or for training. But Drupal doesn't get built for free either. Volunteers are investing time and money in order to make Drupal the best system it can be. But by investing in their own employees, companies are discovering win/win scenarios. Allowing employees to dedicate part of their time to contributing to Drupal or other open-source projects, reduces a company's support and training costs while improving their ability to complete Drupal projects quickly and more effectively.
